Dr Bhuvaneshwari originally hails from Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. She carried out her doctoral work at CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) in the field of Electrochemistry and obtained degree from Bharathiar University in the year 2013. She was the recipient of CSIR-Quick Hire Fellowship (CSIR - Quick Hire Scientist Scheme: Scientist B) (2010 to 2013) and subsequently appointed as Scientist C (adhoc) at CSIR-SERC. Further, she worked as Senior Project Fellow in CSIR-SERC from the year 2013 to 2015. She has guided/co-guided more than 10 students from different backgrounds (MTech/MSc/BE/BTech) for their research project.

She moved to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) in the year 2017 and started working with various departments such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering, Advanced Imaging Centre, and Material Science Programme in the capacity as Senior Project Scientist, DST-Women Scientist, Project Executive Officer, and Institute Post-doctoral Fellow. She visited Department of Biomedical Engineering, Texas A&M University, USA through IUSSTF Project scheme (2018-2020) (IIT Kanpur – Texas A&M University – MIT USA).  Her tenure at IIT Kanpur was completed in December 2022. Currently, She is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi.

  1. Guest Editor for the topic entitled “Carbon Dioxide Capture and Conversion” floated by “Sustainable Chemistry One World” journal (Elsevier). 
  2. Received certificate of recognition for being served as potential reviewer for ACS journal.
  3. Early Career Editorial Member of journal “Sustainable Chemistry One World” (Elsevier)
  4. Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Visiting Scientist Awardee for the year 2024 (Host Institute: Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur).  This award is mainly to foster the ongoing research collaboration in the area of electrocatalyst development for Fuel Cell and BioFiber Mat for Tissue Engineering Applications with Prof. Ashutosh Sharma's research group and Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. 
  5. The collaborative publication entitled "Heteroatom-Engineered Fibrous Biocarbon Electrodes for the Superior Performance of Microsupercapacitors" has been listed in the special collection of papers by ACS publications to honor the pioneering research of Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, IIT Kanpur, who has been awarded Padma SHRI for the year 2025 by Indian government.
  6. One of the articles entitled “Electrically Conductive MoS2 Reinforced Polyacrylonitrile Nanofibers for Biomedical Applications” was selected as an outstanding article under “The Best of the Advanced Journals 2022” by Advanced Journal, Wiley.
  7. Served as an expert member during the evaluation of projects submitted to DST-TNA Project, held during Technology Prioritization Workshop for Water and Waste Sector (under the DST-TNA Project) on November 18th and 19th, 2024, at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, organized by Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. (served as one of the organising committee members).
  8. Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Dr. Bhuvaneshwari’s research group at Department of Chemistry, IIT (BHU) Varanasi and Prof. Selvan’s Research group at Niigata University, Japan for exchange of students, research scholars, PI’s visit, and for joint projects (energy and environmental related).
