Dr. Lakkoju Sankara Rao has earned his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology(BHU),Varanasi in 2018. Presently he is working as Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Metallurgical engineering. He joined in IT(BHU), Main Workshop as group A officer on 12-08-2009.
 
Dr. Rao  has worked in various reputed Foundries like Emirates Techno Casting, Sharjah, UAE  as Process Control Engineer and Moulding Incharge( 2001 to 2005) and Larsen and Toubro Limited, Kansbhal, Odisha as a Senior Engineer from(2005-2009)
    
Dr. Rao has published papers in various peer reviewed international journals
.
He is the reviewer of various journals like JMEP, MRX etc.
 
His present research interests include Semi-solid processing of Metals and alloys, Fabrication and wear behavior of Metal Matrix composites &Centrifugal FGM-Composites, the Agglomeration, DRI, Smelting-reduction, Plasma technology for metallurgical use, Metallurgical waste recycling.etc.

Dr. Rao has prepared several videos related to Manufacturing Practice( ME-105) for the first year B.Tech students of all branches and are published in IIT(BHU) library portal.

Dr. Rao has prepared the detailed video lectures/demonstration  of Metallurgical Practice-III Lab (Iron and Steel Making Division)
