IIT (BHU) invites applications from well qualified and meritorious candidates for faculty positions at the level of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in its various Science & Engineering Departments, Interdisciplinar y Schools, Humanities & Social Sciences discipline and interdisciplinary activity under Departments such as Industrial management under Mechanical Engineering Department.
Departments : Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering & Te chnology, Civil Engineering , Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Humanistic Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.
Schools : Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science & Technology. Minimum Qualification for all faculty position is P hD with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the app ropriate discipline, with a very good academic record throughout. Additional required det ails on experience etc. are mentioned below:
Professor : A minimum of 10 years teaching/research/professio nal experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate P rofessor in an academic institution or equivalent position in a research organization or an industry as on the date of application. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of MTec h & PhD students, strong record of publications in journals of high impact factor, pat ents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activ ities.
Associate Professor : A minimum of 6 years teaching/research/profession al experience of which at least three years should be at the level o f Assistant Professor in an academic institution or equivalent position in a research or ganization or an industry as on the date of application. The candidate should have demonstrated adequate experience of independent research in terms of guidance of MTech and PhD stud ents, strong record of publications in journals of high impact factor, patents, laboratory /course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities.
Assistant Professor : Ph.D. with three or more years of teaching/resear ch/professional experience excluding the experience gained while pu rsuing PhD or any other lower degrees. The candidates should have demonstrated strong rese arch capabilities in terms of publications in reputed journals of high impact fac tor and patents.
Probation: Period of probation in regular appointment will be one year.
Reservation: Without  any  compromise  on  qualification,  experience  and  competence, reservation as per Government of India (GoI) rules
include:  15%, 7.5% and 27% for SCs, STs and  OBCs  respectively  at  the  entry  level  position  of  Assistant  Professor  in  Science  and Technology Departments.  However, in recruitment of faculty posts in subjects other than Science and Technology, reservation shall also be applied in full for the posts of Associate Professors  and  Professors.  GoI  policy  on  reservation  of  faculty  positions  also  includes persons with Physical disability.

The details of pay scale admissible at the time of joining are as follows:

* For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Bandwill be fixed at Rs. 48,000/- p.m.
** For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Bandwill be fixed at Rs. 42,800/- p.m.
*** For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Band will be fixed at Rs. 30,000/- p.m.
The  pay  carries  all  other  allowances  as  admissible to  a  Central  Government  employeestationed  at  Varanasi.  The  fringe  benefits,  such  as HRA,  LTC,  medical  re-imbursement, education  allowance  for  children,  contribution  towards  New  Pension  Scheme  (NPS), reimbursement of telephone bills, book grants, rese arch initiation grant (up to Rs. 10 lakhs),
financial support towards national and international conferences etc. shall be permitted asper the Institute norms.

(i) Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview.
(ii) Applicants for the post of Assistant Professor, who do not fulfil the minimum experience requirements, may be offered an appointment on contract.
(iii) The requirements of minimum qualification and/or experience may be relaxed in the case of candidates with outstanding credentials.(iv) Reservation at entry level will be applicable as per GoI norms.
(v) The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill any or all the posts) advertised without assigning any reason.
(vi) Applicants not found suitable for higher positions may be considered for lower positions in the same area.

3. Higher initial pay is admissible to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidates.
4. Candidates called for and appearing in interview will be paid second AC railway fare from place of duty or the nearest Railway Station from the residence to Varanasi and back by the shortest route as per Institute rules.
5. Applicants, who are employed in Government, Semi-Government Organizations or Institutions, should send their application THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL else they will be required to produce a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from their employer at the time of interview.
