About the workshop:
The Workshop on Slope Stability will provide a platform for Mining, Geotechnical Engineers, Researchers and Academician to gain the knowledge in this discipline. They will also interact through brain storming session and exchange their knowledge and expertise with respect to slope stability issues. The lectures will be delivered by the experts for understanding the slope stability problem and issues related to mine slope, dump slope and earth embankments. It covers basic mechanism on slope stability, analysis methods, instrumentation and monitoring. Participants also perform hands on practice using slope stability analysis computer software. At the end of the course, participants will be able to analyse a slope stability problem based on knowledge gained from theoretical understanding and numerical modelling.
About Department of Mining Engineering
Department of Mining Engineering, IIT (BHU), occupies a pioneering position and is well recognized as a leading center of research in Mining Engineering in Rock Mechanics & Ground Control. The department is actively engaged in teaching, research and consultancy work in the thrust area and rendering valuable service to the mining and construction industry. It is well equipped with laboratories and the faculty associated with the centre is highly qualified to take up the new challenges of the industry. The Department of Mining Engineering, BHU was one of the first in the country to receive UGC Assistance under COSIST and SAP Programme in 1984.

Varanasi has been a centre of learning for Indian culture, music, science, and technology and also a place for tourist attraction situated at the bank of sacred river Ganga.
