Optoelectronic Materials and Devices continue to emerge, grow, and spread as one of the most exciting and challenging technologies of modern time. The overwhelming response from all over the country to our 1st National Workshop on Advanced Optoelectronic Materials and Devices (AOMD-2007) motivated us to organize the event on annual  basis. It is felt that there is a need for a platform on a regular basis for exchanging and sharing scientific thoughts through stimulating scholarly research and a forum for popular debate, discussion and deliberations. The 2nd National workshop on Advanced Optoelectronic Materials  and Devices (AOMD-2008) is intended to re-look  at the state-of-the-art after a period of one year.

The primary goal of AOMD-2008 is to attract the attention of young researchers towards the boundless ocean of truth lying undiscovered in the field of optoelectronics and photonics. The Workshop would provide the participants a unique opportunity for interaction with eminent academicians, scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. The 3-day workshop has been meticulously planned to provide a balanced coverage of all the major aspects of optoelectronic materials and Devices through a series of invited lectures interleaved with peer reviewed scholarly contributed research papers.  In addition, the Workshop would give all the participants a rare opportunity to gain some practical foundry experience through specially arranged visit to our Microelectronics and Optoelectronics laboratory to gain acquaintance with the research activities of the Department including synthesis of organic semiconducting polymers by indigenous method and live demonstration of some devices developed in our laboratory. Like the previous workshop, this time also an Exhibition of latest optical components, devices, measuring instruments and systems from reputed manufacturers along with Books in the related field from renowned publishers has been planned.

Topics:

The workshop will stress theoretical research, practical applications and implications of various forms of optoelectronic materials and Devices. The Workshop topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced III-V and II-VI/IV-VI Materials and Devices
  • Photonic Materials and Devices
  • Long-wavelength optical sources and Detectors
  • Integrated Optics (IO) and Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits (OEICs)
  • MOEMS
  • Si/Ge based Optoelectronic Devices
  • Quantum Optics
